Investor Takeaway: September did not extend August’s record, but a 0.6% sequential dip leaves TSMC operating essentially at its highest-ever monthly sales run rate. The more important number is the completed NT$1.494 trillion quarter.
September Stayed Within 0.6% of TSMC’s August Record
August had been TSMC’s strongest month on record, with revenue rising 10.1% from July and 53.3% year on year to NT$514.81 billion. September therefore looks more like stabilization at a very high level than a reversal. The NT$2.95 billion sequential decline represents less than 1% of monthly sales, while year-on-year growth actually accelerated slightly from August’s 53.3% to 54.6%. That matters for investors watching whether the AI infrastructure cycle is beginning to lose momentum. TSMC manufactures the advanced processors used by customers including Nvidia, AMD and Apple, making its monthly revenue releases one of the highest-frequency demand signals available for the leading-edge semiconductor market. FinanceFeeds had already highlighted the setup after August, when TSMC’s first month above NT$500 billion left September with substantial room against the company’s Q3 guidance. September ultimately came in almost level with that record month rather than falling back toward the lower run rate seen earlier in the year.TSMC Has Generated NT$3.899 Trillion in Nine Months
Revenue for January through September reached NT$3.89873 trillion, up 41.1% from NT$2.76296 trillion during the same period of 2025. The pace is particularly notable because growth has accelerated as the year progressed. September’s 54.6% increase was well above the nine-month growth rate, while July, August and September together generated more than NT$1.49 trillion. That quarter alone accounted for roughly 38% of TSMC’s entire first-nine-month revenue total. The mix behind that growth remains important. FinanceFeeds previously calculated that TSMC’s Q2 revenue growth was being driven by both higher wafer volumes and a richer price and technology mix, with 3-nanometer and 5-nanometer nodes representing the majority of wafer revenue and 7nm-and-below reaching 77%. The September sales release does not provide a technology breakdown, so investors will have to wait for the quarterly report to determine whether that mix strengthened further during Q3.What Does NT$1.494 Trillion Mean Against TSMC’s Guidance?
TSMC guided in July for third-quarter revenue of US$44.6 billion to US$45.8 billion using an assumed exchange rate of NT$32 to the U.S. dollar. At that exact guidance exchange rate, the range translates mechanically to approximately NT$1.427 trillion to NT$1.466 trillion. The three published monthly revenue figures total NT$1.494 trillion, equivalent to approximately US$46.70 billion if the same NT$32 exchange assumption is applied. That arithmetic puts the monthly sales total about NT$28.6 billion, or roughly 2%, above the New Taiwan dollar equivalent of the top of TSMC’s original range. But that is not the same thing as TSMC formally reporting a guidance beat. The company will publish the quarter under its financial-reporting framework using the actual period results and exchange-rate treatment. The clean beat-or-miss comparison therefore belongs with the October earnings release rather than Thursday’s monthly-sales filing.Investor Takeaway: The monthly arithmetic points above the NT$32-per-dollar equivalent of TSMC’s guidance ceiling, but October 15 is the date for the official comparison. More important then will be margins, 2nm ramp costs and Q4 demand.
